Комментарий к статье И. Я. Словцова «В стране кедра и соболя» (очерк Тавдинско-Пелымского края)

Abstract

Основная цель статьи «В стране кедра и соболя» – познакомить читателя с природой и образом жизни людей в долине р. Тавды, как водной артерии, удобной для сообщения с Югорией – краем, который в XIX в. славился ценной пушниной, а посему, с точки зрения И. Я. Словцова, должен был иметь торговые пути как в Европу, так и в Азию. Автор высказывает предположение, что соболь, обитающий в лесной полосе Пелымско-Кондинского края, «играл довольно видную историческую роль в расширении русской колонизации за Каменным поясом (так в старину называли Урал), и, быть может, ускорил даже самый акт присоединения Сибири к Российской Державе».

The main purpose of the article «In the land of cedar and Sable» is to acquaint the reader with the nature and lifestyle of people in the valley of the Tavda River, as a waterway convenient for communication with Yugoria, a region that in the 19th century was famous for valuable furs, and therefore, from the point of view of I. Ya. Slovtsov, should have had trade routes as to Europe, and to Asia. The author suggests that the sable, which lives in the forest belt of the Pelym-Kondinsky region, «played a fairly prominent historical role in the expansion of Russian colonization beyond the Stone Belt (as the Urals were called in the old days), and perhaps accelerated even the very act of Siberia's annexation to the Russian Empire».
