dc.description.abstractThe oribatid mite genus Hammerella Balogh, 1983 (Granuloppiidae) is discussed and a new generic diagnosis is presented. Hammerella (Parawoasella) bayartogtokhi, a new subgenus and species, is proposed, based on specimens from dark loamy soil and litter (under Dipterocarpus alatus) in Vietnam. Parawoasella subgen. n. is distinguishable from other subgenera of Hammerella by the presence of dorsocentral setae in the adult, resulting in 13 pairs of notogastral setae (versus 10 pairs). An identification key to subgenera and species of Hammerella is given.en
