«Borna dux Guduscanorum». К вопросу о характере княжеской власти в Далматинской Хорватии в первой четверти IX века

Abstract

В статье рассматривается проблема первоначального статуса князя Борны, правившего на территории современной Хорватии приблизительно с 818 года по 821 год. «Анналы королевства франков» используют три различных обозначения для определения статуса Борны. Борна упоминается как «dux Guduscanorum» в 818 году, как «dux Dalmaciae» в 819 году и как «dux Dalmatiae atque Libumiae» в 821 году. Вопрос заключается в том, как обозначение «dux Guduscanorum» соотносилось с остальными. Описав различные интерпретации статуса Борны, предложенные в историографии, автор статьи рассмотрел источники, относящиеся к этнической и политической ситуации в соответствующей части бывшей римской провинции Далмации и выразил свое собственное мнение по данной проблеме. Согласно выводам автора, в начале IX века на рассматриваемой территории существовали только два политических образования. Используя терминологию раннесредневековых источников, их можно обозначить как «natio Guduscanorum» и «natio Chroatorum». Оба политических образования по своему происхождению были этнически гетерогенными. Однако, к тому времени, когда они столкнулись с франкской экспансией, каждое из них уже было консолидировано. Борна был хорватским правителем, чья власть признавалась также гудусканами, имевшими автономный статус. Также в статье проанализированы важные социальные институты княжества Борны. Автор подчеркивает, что существовали все необходимые условия как для сильной власти Борны внутри «natio Chroatorum», так и для удержания под его контролем соседней «natio Guduscanorum».

The article deals with the problem of the original status of the Prince of Borna, who ruled in the territory of modern Croatia from about 818 to 821. The Annals of the Kingdom of the Franks use three different designations to determine the status of Borna. Borna is mentioned as «dux Guduscanorum» in 818, as «dux Dalmaciae» in 819 and as «dux Dalmatiae atque Libumiae» in 821. The question is how the designation «dux Guduscanorum» correlated with the rest. Having described the various interpretations of the status of Borna proposed in historiography, the author of the article reviewed sources related to the ethnic and political situation in the relevant part of the former Roman province of Dalmatia and expressed his own opinion on this issue. According to the author's conclusions, at the beginning of the IX century, there were only two political entities in the territory under consideration. Using the terminology of early medieval sources, they can be designated as «natio Guduscanorum» and «natio Chroatorum». Both political entities were ethnically heterogeneous in origin. However, by the time they faced Frankish expansion, each of them had already been consolidated. Borna was a Croatian ruler whose authority was also recognized by the Guduskans, who had an autonomous status. The article also analyzes the important social institutions of the Principality of Borna. The author emphasizes that all the necessary conditions existed both for the strong power of Borna within the «natio Chroatorum» and for keeping the neighboring «natio Guduscanorum» under his control.
