Ум / разум в словарях поэтических образов: метафорические модели и их репрезентация

Abstract

Рассматриваются реализации метафорических моделей с субъектной зоной ум/разум в словарях поэтических образов Н.В. Павлович и Н.Н. Ивановой. На основании анализа представленных в словарях фрагментов художественных текстов XVIII-XX вв. выявляются признаки сопоставления ума и разума с объектами живой и неживой природы, мира человека, определяется специфика образной составляющей каждого концепта. Проводится сопоставление словарных статей с целью выявления сходства и различия в подаче поэтического материала. Определяется соотношение характеристик ума и разума в поэтическом дискурсе и русской языковой картине мира.

The study of the figurative component of the key concepts of the inner world of man is an urgent task of modern linguistic science and in particular figurative lexicography. The author investigated the relevant piece of the Russian conceptual sphere «mind/reason», represented in the Dictionary of Poetic Images by N.V. Pavlovich and in the Dictionary of the Language of Poetry by N.N. Ivanova. The aim of this work is to characterize the conceptual pair mind/reason through the examination of representations of metaphorical models in poetic discourse. Metaphorical models as the epitome of cognitive models reflect the characteristics of the concept, which can be characterized through a list of models and features of their representation. Semantic differences between mind and reason, as well as the features of the presentation of the material in dictionaries of images resulted in a separate consideration of concepts in each dictionary. The number of models of mind is the same: 12. Each source compares mind with a living being, light, fire, gun, plant, object. Mind manifests itself in human activities, traits, behavior of living creatures; it is the source of light that enables man to understand the world; it has spatial parameters, etc. The distinction of metaphorical characteristics of mind in dictionaries is observed mainly in the implementation of specific models: for example, Ivanova’s Dictionary contains no comparison of mind with a weapon, a bird. Metaphorical models of reason find quantitative differences: Pavlovich has 10, Ivanova has six. The models that match are associations of reason with a creature, light, body, objects, elements. Pavlovich also has models with transport, fire, water, space. Fragments of texts of Russian literature are repeated in the dictionaries only in some cases; however, the difference of the material does not affect the identification of the basic models. Mind and reason have similar characteristics reflected in comparisons with light, man, animals, guns. In the texts of the 18th-19th centuries, mind and reason show connection with Deity: it is a divine light, a gift from God. Implementations of metaphorical models also show differences of mind and reason. Reason in comparison with mind is more advanced, powerful and versatile. The implementation of metaphorical models of poetic discourse reflects the rich arsenal of the conceptual features of mind and reason typical of the Russian language picture of the world.
